The Friday Five :: Wallpaper Favorites

I’m just going to go ahead and start by saying, this was a tough one to narrow down. So tough, I considered adding a “Tuesday Ten” post! But that might get a little crazy, so here goes… My (current) wallpaper crushes by style.

Wabi Cloud by Calico Wallpapers :: Available through Lemongrass Interiors

These papers by Calico are handmade and like nothing else you’ve seen on the market. No doubt, this is a bold statement, but sometimes that’s exactly what a room needs. I actually love all of their collections. The Night, Brasscloth and Cirrus collections are otherworldly and surprisingly livable. I also think they’re worthy of framing as a piece of art. A couple of years ago, I furnished a luxury condo in Miami and because the client would only be there a year or so, I framed panels of Wabi Cloud for the living room and Aura for the bedroom.

Ashford House Bali Leaves in Black Colorway

Bali Leaves by Ashford House is my newest botanical fave. I think botanicals (or tropials) can be super fun and give a room such personality. By switching it up with the black colorway, what might typically feel a little “South Florida Kitsch” becomes edgy and cool.

My longtime favorite is Cole & Son Palm – I actually have it in my own home at the back of a recessed wall behind my TV. It has a more of an open linear pattern which gives an airy feel and is a little more subtle. A perennial favorite is Schumacher Zebra Palm and while the classic green is a go to, I love the khaki colorway.

Cole & Son Strand in White

This is another tough category because there are SO many good abstract papers out there! Currently, I’m drawn to this Cole & Son’s quiet abstract. The tones are a lovely combination of white, cream & taupe. And though it’s technically an abstract, it works as a stripe and would be a gorgeous way to update a traditional space.

A close runner-up but not for the faint of heart (or budget!), is Channels by Groundworks. It’s intersecting lines create a bold pattern which is simply beautiful! Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t include the exquisite Buscemi pattern by Bridget Beari. Her papers are made to order and are showstoppers. I’ve recently used the Bastille Brass colorway on a project and can’t wait to have it photographed to show you all. My wallpaper installer (who is incredible, by the way) sees a lot of beautiful papers and gushed about this when he unrolled the first panel.

Phillip Jeffries Manila Hemp in Navy :: Available through Lemongrass Interiors

Phillip Jeffries Manila Hemp is my go to grasscloth. It has a beautiful texture that is just right…not too smooth so it looks like a linen, but not so rough that it looks like it’s shedding. It comes in almost 50 colors and I’ve recently used Fennel, but if you guys know me at all, the Navy is my crush. Here it is in a room designed by Laura Tuten Interiors.

Phillip Jeffries Blossom in Peony :: Available through Lemongrass Interiors

Blossom is a new paper from Phillip Jeffries and instantly became a designer favorite. I am particularly in love with the Porcelain Blue colorway, but it is so so lovely and delicate in Peony on White. I recently suggested this to a client who is in love with the hand painted papers from Gracie Studio. They are truly stunning and totally worth the investment, but sometimes your budget says “No ma’am.” Blossom gives you a similar feel, but won’t empty the piggy bank.

Because we can’t leave out a staple of the wallpaper world, here’s a simple stripe that is so versatile. I can see it in a child’s bedroom, a beach house entry or a crisp Cape Cod-style kitchen. This one also makes the list because it is seriously affordable!! I found it at Decorator’s Best for under $28/roll. Can I get an amen?!
